Accessibility

We want penandinc.sg to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, or at a high zoom level. We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
What we have done
- Text and background colours are tested for contrast. Body text and small labels meet the AA ratio of 4.5:1; our gold is used for ornament rather than type because it does not.
- Every image carries alternative text, and decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
- The site works from a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
- Buttons and links in the navigation and action bar are at least 44×44 pixels on touch screens.
- Headings run in a single logical order, with one per page, so a screen reader can navigate by structure.
- The layout reflows without horizontal scrolling from 360 pixels upward, and respects a reduce motion setting — animation is suppressed if your device asks for that.
- Menus are published as text and as machine-readable structured data, not only as pictures.
Where we fall short
We would rather tell you than not. At present:
- Our menu PDFs are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. The same information is available as text on the outlet pages, and we will read a menu to you over the telephone.
- Some photography is decorative and its alternative text is brief.
- Any third-party platform we link to is outside our control and we cannot warrant its accessibility.

In the restaurants
PEN & INC One-North is reached by lift and is step-free from the building entrance. For NTU, or if you need to know about a specific route, table or facility before you visit, please call the room and we will tell you plainly what to expect.
